Today we are launching the Powers Store -- a completely new way to personalize how you look, sound, and interact in every ChatNoRegister room. Powers are visual and interactive effects that apply to your username, avatar, message bubbles, and room actions. They are cosmetic and expressive enhancements that let you stand out, make your chat presence feel uniquely yours, and participate in the community in a more visible and distinctive way.
Powers are cosmetic and functional upgrades you purchase with your in-chat currency -- Gold and Ruby. Once purchased, a power lives in your inventory permanently. There is no subscription, no rental period, and no need to re-purchase. You buy it once, it is yours indefinitely. You can activate and deactivate any power at any time from the store panel, and you can stack certain compatible powers together for combined effects.
The Powers Store is accessible from within any chat room by clicking the sparkle icon in the top bar. Inside, powers are organized into categories so you can browse by the type of effect you are interested in. Each power has a preview showing what it looks like in practice, along with a help guide explaining the exact CSS animation or effect behind it for users who are curious about the technical details.
Name effects apply directly to your username text as it appears in the chat room -- in every message you send and in the user list on the side. The standout power in this category is Prism, which animates your username through a continuous rainbow color cycle. Every message you send has a different-colored name, which makes you visually distinctive in any busy room. VIP Glow places a soft purple luminescence behind your name, giving it the look of a neon sign. Neon Name adds an animated light comet that sweeps through your username on an ongoing loop. All name effects are visible to every user in the room on every message you send.
Avatar pulses are animated glowing rings that appear around your profile picture in the user list. They draw attention to your avatar and make your presence in the room more visually prominent. Each pulse power has a different color and animation pattern: Aura Pulse uses a deep purple energy glow, Gold Pulse gives a warm golden shimmer, Phantom Pulse creates a ghostly white aura, and Spectrum produces a full rainbow wave cycling around the avatar. Pulses are visible to all users who can see your avatar in the sidebar or in the chat feed.
Bubble effects change the visual appearance of every chat message bubble you send in the room. Rather than the plain default styling, your messages get a distinctive color treatment or glow that makes them immediately recognizable in the chat feed. Bubble Glow adds a pulsing purple glow to your message containers. Bubble Rainbow applies a full color wave across the bubble border. Bubble Neon creates a cycling neon light effect. Bubble Fire uses a red-orange fiery glow. Bubble Gold adds a warm golden shimmer. These effects are consistent and persistent -- every message you send while a bubble power is active gets the effect applied.
Name badges are permanent visual markers that appear next to your username on every single message you send and in the user list. Unlike other powers that are purely cosmetic styling, badges signal status and investment in the platform. The Gold Badge displays a gold star icon next to your name. The Crown badge displays a royal crown that indicates elite or long-standing community membership. Badges stack with name effects, so a user with Prism and Crown active shows both the rainbow name animation and the crown badge simultaneously.
Broadcast powers give you tools to interact with the room at a higher level than standard messages. Room Shout sends a pop-up announcement visible to everyone currently in the room -- useful for getting attention, making an important announcement, or starting a topic. Server Shout broadcasts your message to every active room on the entire platform simultaneously. Welcome User lets you send a personalized welcome banner to greet a specific new user entering the room. DJ On Air posts a special announcement that signals a DJ or host is going live, drawing the room's attention to the event.
Powers are purchased with Gold (earned through regular chat activity -- sending messages, being active in rooms, completing daily check-ins) and Ruby (a premium currency earned by completing daily goals, hitting activity milestones, and staying consistently active on the platform). Your current Gold and Ruby balance is displayed at the top of the Powers Store panel whenever it is open. The earning system is designed so that active users who chat regularly can accumulate enough currency for meaningful powers without spending real money -- though the pace naturally rewards consistent participation.
The Powers Store is live now. Open the sparkle icon in any chat room to browse all 22 powers available at launch. More categories and effects are already planned for future updates.
